In looking at the list of 613 commandments/mitzvots according to wikipedia what are the ones American Jews follow?   Also, the mitzvah mentioned in the A Time of Renewal class was "To sanctify time" but I don't see it listed exactly as such, so was wondering which one it is and where in the Torah can I read about it?

I am in no way qualified to answer your question, but while you wait for the real answer I can venture a guess that this might be the mitzvah to mark the new month.  Maybe you can google around and see if that is this mitzvah?
