From time to time my husband and I visit family in Bnai Brak. They live off of R. Akiva Street. I found it very interesting to learn how this city was founded and was inspired by the story of the Jews settling Bnai Brak.

How would you expect an American to react nowadays to the appeal of Itshe Gershterkorn to relocate and build a new settlement on Israeli wasteland? Explain how you see the difference between then and now.

Americans nowadays are comfortably settled in galus. Eretz Yisrael lacks the pull it had for the Polish Chassidim who suffered terrible anti-semitism in their birth country.
