There is a lot to be learned from a person who has learned true humility. I think it is a rare characteristic today especially in American society where it seems so many people have an "entitlement" issue. Even in religion it's not uncommon to encounter the same "entitlement" issues albeit in different formats.
Funny enough, just today I was speaking with someone who doesn't like "ritual" prayer or blessings and felt they were insincere yet when I compared it to visiting a king or court and asked if they would just show up "as is" without knowing any protocol or formality if it would be considered "sincere" they had an entirely different viewpoint. It seems formality, humility and obedience are increasingly replaced by the concept "if it feels right do it".
I think you are right though...it is impressive and inspiring
