Rut must have been so scarred lying down next to Boaz on the threshing floor. It is so out of the ordinary for how a tzanua lady regularly behaves.

Yes, it is so hard for us to understand what was happening in this story and other similar incidents in Tanach... we can't understand their level of being able to separate their personal feelings and desires from what they felt was their Mission. Do you think it is possible for us to transcend our personal circumstances, 'negiot', and desires and sacrifice our Self for a Higher Cause?

I think women do this all the time when we sacrifice what we would want to do for the benefit of our families. True are families are part of ourselves but many times what is best for them is not always what is best for ourselves.

It is for sure the case that women very often sacrifice what is good for themselves because something else is better for their family. What I think is so extraordinary about this case is that what Rut was sacrificing was ideal adherence to a Torah value (tzniut).
I do think that this kind of sacrifice does come up in families. For example, perhaps a woman wants to keep a higher standard of kashrut but it would be to hard for her kids to be limited in what they can eat, or a father would like to have a learning seder after shachrit but needs to come home to drive carpool.
