The chesed of Antonius's parents is amazing!!!!  Allowing Rebbe's father to take their baby to the emperor was a huge risk because it is possible the emperor could have learned about the baby switch. (Even without the element of risk it is plenty hard for a parent to be away from their own little baby.)

It is hard to imagine that from two such chesedik parents could come someone who would kill two guards each night so he could learn Torah.

What do you think Rebbe thought of Antoninus killing guards each night?Did he try to stop such a desecration of the Torah or was their nothing he could do?

You  pose  very difficult questions.  I somehow thought Rebbi did not know about the killing.  Rebbie could have come to Antoninus and then no one need be killed because the governor could always summon  people.  As for Antoninus' righteous parents, I think the Romans felt some people have worth and others are expendible.  Some lives a worth nothing to them.  Rebbie's family were wealthy and royal.  The guards were fodder for warfare.
