Rebbitzen Heller brings a Midrash that Boaz recognized Rut as a moabite because Moabites looked differant than Jews. I found this very interesting in light of something I heard on Shmuel alef 16:12. (I don't have a source for this or remember were I heard it.)

In the Pasuk David is said to look red (admoni). The vort I heard is that means he did not look like a (typical) Jew. This makes a lot of sense if his ancestor Rut also looked differant.

It also should remind us that Jews come from all backgrounds, looking all sorts of ways and all of them are a wonderful part of Am Yisrael.
