This world famous perek is searing in its intensity, its juxtaposition of desperate plea with confident faith.  Post questions or comments on the shiur below.

Rav David explains in the shiur that we learn from this mizmor that tefila should be "mema'akim," and therefore some shuls have pit from which the shalicah tzibor can daven putting the shatz below the physical level of the tzibor.

Why aren't more shuls like that? I can think or 4 reasons. Do you have another?

1) Some shuls are in buildings that were not originally built to be a shul.
2) It is more expensive to build a shul with a low point in it.
3) It is harder to hear the shatz if he is below the tzibor
4) Disability access

Despite these factors should shuls still be built with a low place for the shatz?
