Topics in the Parsha I - Kedoshim

I thought this class was amazing and should be mandatory listening for the entire Jewish world.  Since I've listened to the class, the idea that Hashem can't hear the prayers from impure lips has come up a few times - It's very powerful. I also really appreciated the idea that a person who steals can not receive prophecy.  But, I feel like we all make excuses as to why "just this one thing" is okay (copies, faxes, other people's time)...  I like the idea that we are so committed to mitzvos, but when it comes to being truthful, we excuse it because it doesn't fit into our way of life.  I have changed my behavior and relationships to mitzvos because of this class.

I remember once many years ago when my children were young, we were visiting my family in the states and there were too many children and not enough seat belts.  I told my kids (feeling very uncomfortable about it) that if we passed a police car, "Duck!"   My daughter said, "But, Mommy, that's lying!"   I needed my three-year-old to put me in my place.  The middah of emet needs to be ingrained in our young childrens' lives so that when they grow up, they will never even dream of doing something like that.  Thank you, Shira Smiles, for the reminder.  We need this reminder every single day. One lie can so easily lead to the next lie.
