The peirush of the Me'am Lo'ez makes me wonder - aren't Klal Yisroel rachmanim and gomlei chasadim?  An idea that to all of us is so ingrained - to daven for a fellow jew - was so lacking in them?  Is it possible that they were only focused on themselves? Yet, it is remarkable that Klal Yisroel didn't daven for Moshe Rabbeinu.  Did they daven for Miriam when she had tzara'as?

Did they daven for themselves after the miraglim? after the aigel?

I do not understand the Rambans opinion that Moshe Rabbeinu felt that the seeing of the land was an opportunity to daven more than at any other time? Why would his seeing be a "petach" for teffilah?
