What kind of qualities did Recha Sternbuch need to rise to the occasion and do what she did? Why did so many others in her position not act as she did?

I think Recha Sternbuch displayed extraordinary courage, insight, fearlessness, and self sacrifice.  Many did not realize or even believe the extent of the tragedy that was occuring in Nazi occupied Europe. Her amazing faith and uncanny insight  propelled her forward to save countless Jews from an untimely death.
