Bircat Hamazon or bentching as it is colloquially called, is the Grace After Meals recited after eating a meal that contains bread. It is a Torah mandated mitzvah as it says, "And you shall eat, and be sated, and bless the L-rd your G-d" (Deuteronomy 8:10).
